Folkloress is an independent fantasy fashion and lifestyle brand created by me, Rebecca, a French Canadian artist and designer deeply inspired by folklore, mythology, fantasy literature, medieval aesthetics, nature, and storytelling.
I created Folkloress out of a desire to bring the feeling of storybook worlds into real life through clothing and objects that feel immersive, meaningful, and magical.

Every collection begins as an idea I illustrate and develop myself, often inspired by a specific world, mood, or narrative. Rather than following fast fashion trends, I focus on creating detailed, artistic pieces.

Folkloress is a very small independent business that I operate primarily on my own. From designing collections and creating embroidery artwork to communicating with manufacturers, organizing launches, answering emails, packing orders, and overseeing fulfillment, nearly every aspect of the brand is handled personally by me.

Because my collections are highly detailed and produced in small batches, many releases are offered through preorder and crowdfunding launches. This slower production model allows me to create pieces that would not be possible through traditional mass production while also helping reduce overproduction and waste.

Each design goes through multiple stages of development before production begins. I place a great deal of importance on embroidery quality, fabrics, colors, fit, and small details so the final pieces remain as close as possible to the original artistic vision.

I work closely with an ethical manufacturer based in Hong Kong, capable of producing intricate custom work rather than standard mass-market garments.
Many Folkloress pieces feature original illustrations, custom embroidery, specialty fabrics, and detailed finishes inspired by fantasy worlds and historical aesthetics.

At its heart, Folkloress exists for dreamers — for those who long for a little more magic, beauty, storytelling, and wonder in everyday life.
