Pre-Orders FAQ

What is a pre-order?

A preorder means essentially that you are buying an item before it is being produced. By doing so, you help me bring to life my designs that I simply couldn’t afford to manufacture otherwise! Plus, I only produce small batches with very limited quantities so the best way to ensure you get the pieces you want is by placing a preorder. It’s important to note that some collections may never restock again so preordering is your best chance to get your hands on these pieces!

Why does Folkloress use pre-orders?

Due to very high production costs I need to rely on preorders to fund the production of my collections ; I simply couldn’t bring to life my ideas and designs without it.
The preorder model also helps reduce overproduction and waste by producing closer to actual demand.

How long do pre-orders take to ship?

Estimated timelines are always provided on the product page before purchase. However, preorder timelines should always be considered flexible estimates rather than guaranteed shipping dates. For new collections launching as preorders, it takes about 8 to 12 months to complete and fulfill, especially for larger or more complex launches.
Please only place a preorder if you are comfortable with extended wait times and possible delays. Take note that some collections that are listed on my website are already manufacturered so the delays will be much shorter. Please refer to the timeline on the top of each listing or the fulfillment page to know the estimated date for specific products / collections ♡

Can I order in-stock and pre-order items together?

Yes, though keep in mind that your order will only ship when all items are in stock.
If you would like in-stock items sooner, I recommend placing separate orders.

Can I cancel or modify my preorder?

Orders may usually be modified or canceled during the preorder period.
Once the preorder window has closed and production has begun, cancellations or major order changes may become more difficult, as quantities and manufacturing are already being finalized.
However, if you need assistance, please contact me and I will always do my best to help whenever possible.

How will I receive updates?

Major preorder updates are shared through the fulfillment updates page on the website and occasionally via email too.

Please make sure the email used during checkout is correct and check your spam or promotions folder if you are waiting for updates. Adding my email Hello@Folkloress.com to your contact is a good way to prevent my emails from being sent to your junk folder. Subscribing to the newsletter is also the best way to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Will I receive a tracking number?

Yes. Once your order has been packed and a shipping label has been created, you will automatically receive a tracking email.
Please note that tracking updates may occasionally take a few days to appear after the package has been dropped off with the carrier.

Can pre-orders sell out?

Yes. I often have set quantities for each design, so preorders can sell out

Why are preorder timelines longer than regular online stores?

Unlike large fast-fashion retailers, Folkloress collections are created in small batches with a strong focus on artistry, detail, and quality.
Each collection goes through multiple stages including design, sampling, revisions, production, freight transit, sorting, quality control, and fulfillment before arriving to customers.
Because of the scale and complexity involved, preorder timelines are naturally much longer than typical ready-to-ship retail items.

Who runs Folkloress?

Folkloress is a very small independent artist-run business operated by me, Rebecca.
I personally handle design, communication with manufacturers, launch preparation, customer service, fulfillment coordination, and much of the day-to-day work behind the brand.

Thank you so much for supporting independent art and slow creation ♡
